This is the very first draft of the rules. We will be updating them as issues arise or as we feel we need clarify things. If you have any questions, please address them to an administrator.
Happy reading. Attention CBR Junkies, CBRjunkie was founded January 2009. The founding members thought it would be a good idea to have a place for motorcycle enthusiasts to talk about their rides and share their knowledge, modifications, maintenance concerns, how-tos, specific bike model talk, as well as providing a comfortable place for us to have fun hanging around the water cooler. Sounds great, right? It is. There will, however, as with any large gathering need to be rules to keep such a wonderful, grass roots site running smoothly. This is not an advertisement or profit based site. We are most concerned with providing a comfortable environment for those with a common interest. Our Mission Statement - Simple: A place dedicated for riders from all around the globe to share in their knowledge of all things motorcycle related. Our focus is on safety, education and fun. If you share the love of two wheels, welcome home! With that said let us all keep in mind a few regulations, and common courtesies as we want this to be a place where everyone feels welcome. While it may take a few moments of your time to read the following, it will create a much more pleasant and enjoyable journey for you knowing what is and isn't acceptable from the start. Here are the Rules & Guidelines for CBRjunkie.com (in no particular order): This forum is not actively moderated, however we do passively moderate (delete/move messages as needed). We have a somewhat liberal set of rules which we expect every member to follow. Administrators reserve the right to remove your right to post (permanently) should you repeatedly abuse these simple rules. This is a free service, please don't ruin it for everyone else. All IP addresses are recorded. If you have a complaint about a particular poster please let us know via PM (private message), DO NOT do it on the open forums. Post in Appropriate Sections Before you post a thread or reply to ask a question please check to see if someone else has asked it before (at least in recent threads/posts). A few notes about posting: - There are obviously some gray areas when your topic can fall into more than one category, just pick the best one but DON'T post in both. One of them will get deleted. - If your post can fall into one or more categories, pick the more general one to give it more exposure. For example, I have a fuel problem with my F4i could fall into F4i or General Tech. Posting it in General Tech will give it more exposure and increase the chances of getting positive feedback because a very mechanically-inclined member may not read the F4i section. - All classified ads not posted in the classified section will get moved. NO EXCEPTIONS! - Don't advertise your classified ad in other sections. Those posts will get deleted. - If your post gets moved, it will be moved to the most general section possible. For example, What is the best rearsets for my F4i? can fall under F4i or Modifications. It will be moved to Modifications. - The General Section should be a last resort, not a first resort. Before posting there, please make sure your post doesn't fall into one of the other categories. A funny Craigslist posting in the 1000RR section, a banner test in the Water Cooler section, or what is the best winter glove in the Garage section are examples of what NOT to do. Threads will be moved to the appropriate section if they started in the wrong place. Bumping / Double Posting - Please refrain from deliberately 'bumping' your message back to the top of the forum with no new content. There are a few exceptions (such as bumping your ad in the classifieds, or a very useful knowledge based thread) but even on those please allow a "decent" amount of time to pass before doing so and please limit the number of bumps. Double Posting (back to back posts by the same member) should also be avoided, if you wish to add or change your post please use the "Modify" button rather than posting back to back. A note about "Modifying" / Editing your post: If your post already has replies and you don't like the replies, you may ask a mod/admin to lock or remove or your thread but please do not edit out (delete) the original post as this makes the entire thread nonsensical and impossible to follow. (Same request applies to a post you may have made in someone else's thread) Other Rules Regarding Posting - Members that smear or otherwise attack the site or admins, staff or moderators are subject to suspension and or removal. Members will not post other Members' personal information. Members will not start a thread with the intent of continuing the topic of a thread that was closed or removed. When discussing topics such as races where the thread may contain results/final information, please be kind to other members who have not seen it yet by placing a **Spoiler** tag in your subject line. Also, make sure your subject line does not contain any info. that gives it away such as "Congrats to ....". The PM (Private Message) System - Please do not post threads addressing a particular member to ask where they are, etc... This is what the PM system is for, please use it. Bickering Bickering will not be tolerated. We all arrived at this destination because we have the love of motorcycles in common. There is no need to argue. All problems should be addressed to Administrators/Moderators, or the member you are having problems with. Public drama will be kept to an absolute minimum. Those who continue the same behavior are subject to having their accounts removed. Flaming/Flame Baiting/Trolls No thanks. If you intentionally try to get someone to argue, or post derogatory comments toward another member with the intent of making them look foolish or make them feel bad, you are in violation of the rules. Self promoting will also receive the same treatment. We will come in like a moth to flame. You have already been warned do no do it. Foul Language/Vulgarity/Adult Subject Matter Please keep in mind that while we are not a church and most motorcyclists are adults, we also have many browsers that are younger (future motorcyclists here browsing their dream). In addition, many members view the site from work where such matters not only may not be appreciated but it also may cause their servers to block our site. While many of us are subject to descriptive metaphor, please try to come up with creative ways of saying things we would not want young children to hear. Point blank cursing is unacceptable. Topics of an adult nature or theme, should they be overly crude, are subject to removal by Admins/Mods at any time. They should also CLEARLY be preceded by a NSFW or NWS tag in both Subject line as well as next to any link. (NWS is an acronym for Not Work Safe) XXX/Nude/Bikini/Violent Images Pornographic and nude pictures are strictly prohibited. Links to nude pictures or pornographic sites is strictly prohibited. Use your best discretion when it comes to posting bikini pictures in a thread, as an avatar, or in a banner. Again, all images are subject to removal. If you are unsure if the pic or link violates rules it is best to either not post it, ask us first, or post a link only (do not embed the vid or pic within the body of your post) until we determine if it is acceptable. (NWS Rules for questionable material are the same for this topic as they are in the one above) Graphic images depicting violence are discouraged, with the exception of those that serve an educational purpose in the motorcycling community. Those that satisfy the educational clause should be linked and not directly visible in a thread. This link, and if possible the thread title, should carry a warning that such material may be offensive to some. Images found to be in violation of the above Sections will be handled in the following manner: 1. Images depicting strong graphic or questionable ethical content will be converted to links. Those links will be labeled with a brief description of what is to be expected if the link is clicked. 2. Images deemed entirely inappropriate (pornography, graphic violence) will be removed. Signature & Avatar Images - All of the rules regarding images in the above 2 topics apply to signatures and avatars. Moderators may edit or remove a post, edit or remove an Avatar or title, or edit or remove an item in a Member signature line if such content violates the rules at any time. Please avoid using overly disruptive images or animations in sigs & avatars.** ** For rules concerning maximum Dimension & File size of Signature Banners Click Here ** For rules concerning maximum Dimension & File size of Avatars Click Here Harassment - a/k/a "Leghumping" is considered as unwanted sexual, romantic or other advances towards another member and can be cause for account termination. All incidents should be reported, whereby a member will be warned to discontinue their behavior. If the behavior is reported a second time, by either the same target or another target of unwanted advances/behavior, the offending member will receive a 30 day suspension. If a third violation occurs, the offending member will be permanently banned, without exception. Religion & Politics Simple not allowed. These topics are exceptionally polarizing and have no place on a friendly motorcycle forum. There will be no exceptions. Spam If you want to promote another website, or sell a product, please check with the Admins first. We may welcome your post, but also have the right to tell you no. Any member caught advertising or selling without prior approval are subject to suspension or ban. Please respect our wishes. Post Whoring/Thread Jacking Do not post useless information in a thread. +1, a smiley, or negative comments are considered useless, especially with the intent just to add to your post count. Please keep on subject. Threads that begin to wander can be locked or moved. Bashing Bashing of other websites, models of motorcycles, brands, products or vendors is not acceptable. Naming or linking to another website/forum to defame them is also not allowed. If you feel you have a legitimate complaint or dislike about a particular brand or product (such as a brand of helmet you don't care for or didn't hold up well in a crash) do it once if you have the facts to support it. Do not deliberately repeat your comment. User Names Each member is only allowed ONE user name. Please choose the name carefully as it can not be changed once chosen. Multiple membership accounts will be considered a violation and possible permanent removal of all of your accounts. Impersonating other members will also be considered a violation with the same result. With that said, we will consider hardship cases if you have a good excuse for wanting your screen name changed. Please PM one of the Admins. We make no promises that we will change it but we will definitely consider your case. New Members Let the CBR Junkie staff be the first to welcome you. There is a search option that will help you along your journey. If you cannot find what you are looking for, let us help you. If you are confident you could not find something on the subject in question, post it up. If it is discovered that you have posted a common concern, the topic may be merged with other like subjects. Piracy - We do not allow the posting of serial numbers, cracks, warez links, anything related to the piracy of software, posting of any illegal methods to obtain music, or any other intellectual property. Each message posted is owned by and the opinion of the original poster. Neither CBRjunkie.com nor its owners or webmaster are legally responsible for anything posted on these forums. Commercial Advertising - Commercial website linking or advertising is not allowed, if you wish to advertise on the site contact us. If you wish to post about your company, post ONCE ONLY in the appropriate "For Sale" section if you're selling something specific. Spamming will not be tolerated. This is a general list of regulations. Others may be added as we continuously work to improve the site. Obviously, we are not able to cover every issue. If you have a question or comment that is not covered in these rules or in the FAQ section, we welcome suggestions (please post them in Site Suggestion). Please note that each category (such as the Classifieds) may also have additional rules stickied at top. The specific category rules are not in place of these broader general forum rules, rather they are additional rules for that particular category so make sure to familiarize yourself with those as well. Above all, respect each other. Thank you for being a part of this wonderful forum, and we are proud to call you our friends. Thank You p.s.
